truth behind them.
-
Electric Vehicles are not for everybody,
one car does not fit all needs.
-
Major automakers have demonstrated fun,
powerful, and long lived electric vehicle
products already.
-
EV's help with America's growing
addiction to oil, since they consume virtually
no oil products.
-
According to the American Lung
Association and the California Air Resource
Board, electric power is a cleaner air
alternative to gas and diesel drive trains.
-
Electric cars are the perfect second car
for Americans, as 90% of households own more
than two car's, and the average Californian
commutes 37 miles per day (Data from CARB).
-
Electric car's hold the records for the
fastest 1/4 mile time for street legal
racers (Wrightspeed holds record's of a 0-60
time of 3 seconds and a standing quarter
mile time of 11.5 seconds.

Myth: EV's still pollute
-
"Pollution is
easier to manage at a central point such
as the stacks of power plants rather
than from millions of vehicle tail
pipes. Many power plants today are being
modified to lower emissions and a number
of older plants are being retired.
Wind-generated power, solar and other
forms of renewable energy are pollution
free and are becoming more available.
The overnight charging of PHEVs matches
well with wind-generated electricity
(the most abundant green power), the
majority of which is produced overnight
due to wind patterns."
-
Myth: EV's are slow
-
Electric car's are just like gas car's
in this respect. You cannot
generalize that all gas car's are slow
by looking at an old Volkswagen Bug.
Electric car's hold places in most
street legal drags, and some electric
vehicles have top speeds of over 200
miles per hour, the same as the internal
combustion engine.
-
Myth: EV's all look weird
-
The reason this myth has come around is
because of the numerous concept car's and the
fact that there have only been a few production
electric car's. However, most electric
cars are indistinguishable from their
counterparts, except for the missing exhaust
pipe, silent idle, and often the only give away
are the decals some may choose to put on their
car.
