Our environment is being destroyed by human presence, through excessive noise, air, and water contamination. The Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) is a leading cause of the pollution.  Gas engines are used in cars, trucks, airplanes, trains, lawn and garden tools and motorcycles. Eliminating the use of ICE's in all of these applications could considerably lower pollution on all fronts.


To elaborate more on the following subjects, click on the bullet points to expand them.

  • Noise

    • Noise is a fatigue factor especially on long trips

    • Noise pollution from gasoline powered engines is a big problem in urban areas.  A sedan, while driven on the road, also emits noise from belt-connected accessories, cooling fan blades, compressors and pumps  - all of which need muffling in the interior passenger cabin

    • Electric vehicles are able to run in near total silence.  As a result the road noise seems more pronounced and depending on the body aerodynamics and shape, wind noise is also more audible than in a gas car.
      • As a result of the lack of noise and thermal signatures, the United States Military is interested in deploying Electric Vehicles in the field.
  • Air Pollution

    • With the widespread scientific agreement in recent years on global warming via the Greenhouse effect, to which vehicle emissions are a significant contributor Ė society should be more cognizant of the pollution given off by their cars. 
    • Every gallon of gasoline burned in an ICE emits 19.5 pounds of CO2.  EVís do not directly emit any CO2

    • Air pollution given off by gas-powered cars effects people.  Electric cars emit no hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen pollutants as do gasoline powered cars.  In heavily populated cities across world, the toxic fumes given off by cars cause asthma, or other health related issues

  • EVís versus ICE

    • EVís produce 97% less pollutants even after figuring in the emissions from the present mix of power generation used to recharge the cars

    • EVís recharged from renewables such as solar, wind, or other non polluting energy sources produce no air pollution at all. To be able to eliminate all air pollution from transportation could be of enormous help to the future of humanity on earth, and in the long run, planet earth itself.   Simply placing photovoltaic panels (solar panels) on ones roof, can eliminate a monthly electricity bill, and if those citizens drive electric carís they can further free themselves of growing fuel costs (which helps recover their initial investment even faster) while increasing their property value.

    • The convenience of being able to ďfill upĒ at home should not be overlooked.  Quickly forgotten will be the visits to the neighborhood filling station

    • Charging on solar and other renewable fuels can avoid the creation of greenhouse gases so we wonít have an enormous economic upheaval.  As oil products increase in price, we will be able to survive shortages better.  Witness the price spikes during the fall of 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, and the repeat of high prices already seen now in the spring of 2006

  • Hazardous Runoffs and Waste

    • When an accident occurs on the road, the hazardous materials team is quickly called in to clean up the spilled gasoline, oil, transmission fluid, coolants on the ground, primarily so that none of these toxic and flammable compounds seeps into the earth to contaminate ground (drinking) water

    • If a modern EV were involved, Ďhaz-matí teams are not at all concerned, as there simply is no liquid electrolyte involved

    • Even though brake dust is particulate matter, EVís donít significantly contribute to that roadside detritus primarily due to their use of regenerative braking.
